The time I discovered poetry videos on the internet

I spend more time than I would like trying to forget that I’m unsatisfied with where I am right now.

Some of that is when I’m at home, alone, trying to find inspiration or meaning or rest.

Some of it is when I should be working but I can’t bring myself to do it because it feels like dying.

And then I find things, videos of poets with souls filled with pain and anger, that speak to me.

And I sit in my office, as my colleagues go about their business behind me, with one earbud in one ear listening to people like me.

And I write blog posts which look more like poetry.

  1. I hate to get all Oprah’s Book Club on yo ass, but have you ever read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle? I read it this year and it has changed my outlook on life. Now, instead of looking at the future as a place where I will maybe one day be happy, I try to remind myself that happiness is always possible right now, no matter what the current situation is. It really did my brain a world of good and I think you might like it too.

    1. Well! My mother bought it for me probably a year ago and I’ve never read it, I started it… I think mostly I’m unhappy because I’m scared. Anyway, I will read it.

      1. Yeah look it’s a difficult book in a lot of ways – and his advice is presented in a fairly unsympathetic, matter-of-fact tone. But the core message is really helpful, and that is you can be genuinely happy right at this very moment. It’s always comforting to me to remember that.
