It’s been a year: 2024 wrap up

So as has been my style for the last couple of years, my last blog post for the year is a revision of my goals from the last twelve months.

In my post in January I had this list of goals for 2024.

  • Publish Morgana, My Queen
  • Finish and publish anthology story
  • NaPoWriMo 2024 (April)
  • Keep up the blog
  • Craft projects, including crochet, painting, etc.
  • Read 5 books
  • Play music
  • Travel/have a holiday

I’m very pleased to say that I have achieved all of them, as well as adding a couple of other things I’m counting including; 30,000 words as part of NaNoWriMo in November and performed three times on piano for small groups of other students.

Check out the photos below for some of my adventures!

  • View of blue ocean surrounded by rocks in Uluwatu, Bali
  • Fleur pictured wearing a multicoloured cardigan that she crocheted.
  • Cake made by Fleur, pictured with white icing and black 40 with skull and cross bones image.
  • Image of a large crowd in front of a stage. An orchestra and performers play.
  • Several women authors stand in a group at the Romance Writers of Australia conference.
  • A green couch with a mulitcoloured granny square blanket.
  • Black and white drawing in an art deco style on a wall
  • Three hand drawn images in the style of tarot cards; Queen of Cups, The High Priestess, and The Fool

I didn’t get to do as much meeting new people or going to gigs as I would have liked, but maybe I need to get used to the fact I’m not as outgoing as I was in my twenties (or even early thirties). I blame COVID/lockdowns in part, but I also have to admit that staying home is nice. I have a good nest set-up and it’s hard to find attractive offers to leave it. That being said, I had bought tickets to a couple of gigs that I didn’t go–turns out that I also don’t have the energy I had in my twenties.

My new job turned out to be a real winner, I’ve been there almost a year now, and I’ve already been seconded onto a role to build a new project, which is both scary and exciting. By this time next year, all things going to plan, I’ll be back in my usual job and the project will be fully set-up and running without me.

In a few days I’ll put up my new list of goals for 2025. I haven’t completely decided on them yet, I’ll have to give them some thought. I’m currently staying in a very cute old fashioned house in country Victoria for a little break away. There’s not much better than going to another physical space to break up some of the routine staleness.

It seems strange to say I need to break up the routine in the same post as talking about how much I like staying home, but maybe it’s a good balance between the comfortable and the unknown.

I hope everyone has had a good 2024, and that your 2025 is even better.
